Message in a bottle 11.8.2025 at 13.36
Hello!
My name is HH, a 68-year old outdoorsy person who feels most at home in nature. I have a rowing boat, and in beautiful weather and still winds I rowed North of Vålö past Mossaholmen in the direction Storfagerö. At that point the wind picked up, but I made it safely to the pier at Storfagerö.
Once there I checked the weather forecast and the wind was to calm down later in the evening. While waiting for that to happen I took a stroll, and as I neared the tip of the island I thought to myself: “I wonder what awaits me behind the bend?” You can imagine how surprised I was when I spotted a bottle with some interesting contents.
I opened it and was even more surprised that the message-in-a-bottle was meant for me, who had just found it.
As the wind was gusting I had to wait with reading your logbook (I’m not that good with English) and the text is quite small. But now I’ve read it with the help of my magnifying glass. One gets a bit excited when coming upon a message-in-a-bottle for real. Not something that happens every day, to say the least. This said I had to send a photo of it to my children, telling them I had found a message while stranded on an uninhabited island. They too thought it was really cool! What a wonderful idea to make such a thing and I’m so happy to have been the one who found it!
Are you from around Helsinki? I myself live in Ingå, and have always enjoyed rowing (even if I’ve also dreamed of paddling as well. I have tried it, though.) If you are ever in the vicinity of Ingå it would be nice to meet.
Kind regards,HH
